The Â鶹ҹÊÐ’s Dr. Ignatius Cahyanto will spend five months in Vietnam during the 2024-2025 academic year after earning a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award.
Cahyanto is an associate professor of management in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration. He holds the Coca-Cola/BORSF Endowed Professorship in Hospitality Management and the Community Coffee Company, Inc./BORSF Professorship in Hospitality Management.
Cahyanto is among more than 800 scholars, artists, faculty members, professionals and students from the U.S. recently named Fulbright scholars. The scholars travel to other to countries to teach or conduct research as part of the international cultural and educational exchange program.
Cahyanto will teach and develop courses in sustainable tourism management at the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry in Thai Nguyen City, Vietnam. He will also conduct research at the Agriculture and Forestry Research and Development Centre for Mountainous Regions, examining the tourism experience of ethnic minority women.
Fulbright award recipients are selected based on academic and professional achievement, and service and leadership. It’s one of the most competitive fellowships in the world.
Cahyanto was accepted into the program after he completed a lengthy application process and received a peer-review panel’s recommendation. He joins a list of Fulbright alumni that include 62 Nobel Prize laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize recipients and 80 MacArthur Fellows.
